Six months ago I lost my mom to cancer. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. I also had a milestone birthday. These life altering events were a call to action for me. As a practicing artist and a NYC public school art teacher, I know firsthand the powerful impact of art and the rewards of teaching. Art is healing, art can change our perspective and create empathy for others, art allows us to find our own voice, and to make meaning out of the world around us.

It has always been a dream of mine to run the NYC Marathon, and this year I would love to make that happen! I am running not just for my mom, but for the thousands of students who lives will be enriched through arts education. Please join me in this important cause.
